Samuel McCracken is a Queer & Trans Illustrator, Artist and Educator based in Shropshire, West Midlands, UK. He is currently a Masters student at the University of Wolverhampton, and a dad to 3 cats, Bean, Bella & Buddy.
Academically, Sam explores his identity as a Queer person, highlighting LGBTQIA+ rights, Kink, Fetish and cruising cultures (not the boat kind!). With this, he strives to question what Illustration is limited to and just how far that title can be pushed, working with traditional and digital illustration methods, and sculpture, both traditional and 3D printing.
He has recently completed an Artist in
Residence with the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust Charity exploring and proving the Spectrum of Gender Identity/Expression.
He has also won several awards, including an Excellence in Art, and the Esther Opemipo Shonibare Award for Championing Diversity.
His artwork has been published in a children's book, My Brother Born Sleeping (2023), raising money for Red Nose Charities globally, which has recently won an Excellence in Children Literature from the International Purple Dragonfly Awards.
His artwork has also been exhibited internationally, in New York, Paris and Tokyo with The Holy Art Gallery.
