Samuel McCracken is a Queer & Trans Illustrator, Artist and Educator based in Shropshire, West Midlands, UK. He is currently a Master's student at the University of Wolverhampton, and a dad to 5 cats, Bean, Bella, Buddy, Binkx and Marmalade.
Academically, Sam explores his identity as a Queer person, highlighting LGBTQIA+ rights, Kink, Fetish and cruising cultures (not the boat kind!) striving to understand Queer intimacy within the visual arts. With this, he questions what Illustration is and just how far that title can be pushed, working with traditional and digital illustration methods, and sculpture, both traditional and 3D printing.
He completed an Artist in
Residence with the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust Charity in 2024, exploring and proving the Spectrum of Gender Identity/Expression.
He has been nominated for a number of community awards, including, Role Model of the Year: Student (The Queer Student Awards 2024), placed 2nd overall at the The Art of Trans Joy (Trans in the City) 2025, and winning the Excellence in Art from the University of Wolverhampton 2024, and the Esther Opemipo Shonibare Award for Championing Diversity with the Wolverhampton Students Union 2024.
His artwork has been published in a children's book, My Brother Born Sleeping (2023), raising money for Red Nose Charities globally, which has recently won an Excellence in Children's Literature from the International Purple Dragonfly Awards, and in Zines such as "Pump Ass Not Gas" for the Fossil Free campiagn supported by the People and Planet Network.
His artwork has also been exhibited internationally, in New York, Paris and Tokyo with The Holy Art Gallery.
